DESCRIPTION: EPW - J. Alfred Jurgensen, Copenhagen, 50mm, 18K gold original HC with signed gold cuvette, chain with bow guards, white enamel SS dial, SW with setting lever that is pushed in by tilting bow foward to make contact with chain guard of bow thereby pressing lever in, setting mechanism disengages as lever releases when bow is tilted back, fully capped lever escapement, 20J, nickel damascene, s#382 with matching serial number within case. Comes with a fitted box marked for retailer Gage & Johnson of Haverhill, Massachusetts. Gross weight of assembled watch 72.4 dwt (112.7 g). Jacques Alfred Jurgensen was the youngest son of Jules Jurgensen and was trained at a very early age to work as a watchmaker, and Jacques was integrated into the daily affairs of his father's business by the age of 19. He went on to found his own company that was "still housed under the same roof as Jules Jurgensen" to produce high quality watches. In later years Jacques took the reins of his father's company and ran that until his death in 1912. CONDITION: Mvt: NR, ticking with escapement noise in some positions but stopping in others, overhaul needed, fine cosmetic mvt condition overall, clouding to nickel tone, some spotting and fine scratches, missing a screw from barrel bridge signature plate; dial with short faint hl above center, minuscule hl above seconds-register, mild fine scratch near 1; excellent hands; case shows light wear, fine scratches and profuse micro-fine scratches, dent to lower front, mild ding to upper front, scattered shallow denting to rear, nick on band at 7:30; tight bow, crown shows little wear; good glass crystal; box with typical mild wear.
